> Search across all your company data with AI-powered intelligence

# Nerve Universal Search

Search for anything across all your company context with our AI-powered search engine.

## What Is Nerve's Universal Search?

**Nerve's search is not just another prompt bar. It's a semantic, AI-powered engine designed to:**

* **Find answers or missing context instantly** across all your company's data: emails, docs, wikis, Slack, Jira, Salesforce, and more
* **Research in natural language** — chat with it just like you would a colleague; it understands your company abbreviations and internal lingo
* **Generate new content and insights** by drawing from all your available context instead of just serving up links
* **Show you exactly where information came from** with clickable source citations for transparency and deeper dives

## Key Features

### 🔍 Unified Internal Search Engine

* Query all your company's knowledge, no matter which SaaS app it lives in
* Superhuman understanding — search for specific facts, policies, project details, conversations, or even high-level strategy questions
* See direct answers and aggregated context, not just a list of files; filtered by relevancy for you

### 🎯 Filters for Precision

* Click the **Filters** button any time to constrain your search by:
  * Time range (e.g. "last week" or custom dates)
  * Source (e.g. just Slack, Gmail, Confluence, Jira, etc.)
* Perfect for catching up after PTO, tracking project history, or doing week end retros
* Remember: filters are strict — Nerve will only show results from your selected sources or time periods

### 📚 Source Citations & Previews

* Every answer includes sources pulled from your connected data
* Hover for a preview, or click to jump straight to the underlying doc or message
* Ensures traceability and helps you validate or dig deeper into any answer

### ⚡ Search Suggestions & Quick Navigation

* **Quick Navigation**: Trying to go to a frequently opened doc? Just type part of the name and Nerve will show all matching results in the dropdown
* **Search Suggestions**: Soon as you start a chat the most relevant files/pages/docs/messages will populate in the right panel for lightning-fast navigation

### ✍️ Contextual Content Creation

* Nerve does more than retrieve answers — it synthesizes new ones
* Want to talk to a specific doc or use it as the context for your chat? Add it via the **Add Content** button above the Nerve bar
* Ask Nerve to write emails, document summaries, meeting notes, job descriptions, or exec reports drawing from your real company data

## Pro Tips for Power Users

### 🌐 Include External Web Results

Need live results from the internet or just additional context from outside your company? Click the **Web** button above the prompt bar and Nerve will include a real time internet search to complement your answer.

### 💬 Ask Follow-ups

Refine any search by continuing the conversation. Ask "Can you show me the decision history for this? What were the key points discussed and tradeoffs made?" or "Summarize in 3 sentences". Nerve includes suggested follow ups below each response!

### 📝 Specify Output Style

Use the **Output Template** button to have Nerve's response mirror a specific format or tone - just share an example of your desired output.

### 📋 Easy Copy

Use the **Copy** button under any answer to easily share a response — no more manual copy-pasting.

### 🤝 Collaborate and Share

Share Nerve answers or drafts with colleagues into Slack/email with just one click - use the **Review and Send** button under any answer to edit and share Nerve's response.

### 🧠 Leverage as a Thought Partner

For brainstorming, strategic questions, or even feedback on partially developed plans - Nerve is your constant intellectual sidekick.

### 🔗 Connect All Your Key Apps

The more integrations you've connected (Slack, Email, Docs, Calendar, Salesforce, Notion, etc.), the smarter and more complete your search results will be. Click the **Integrations** button above your profile picture to add or reconnect any apps.

## Getting Started

1. **Start with a simple question** - Try asking about a recent project or decision
2. **Use natural language** - Ask questions like you would to a colleague
3. **Explore the filters** - Narrow down results by time or source
4. **Follow the citations** - Click through to original sources for more context
5. **Try follow-up questions** - Build on previous answers to dive deeper

## Best Practices

### Effective Search Queries

* **Be specific**: "Q4 sales pipeline for enterprise clients" vs "sales"
* **Use context**: "What did Sarah say about the new feature in yesterday's standup?"
* **Ask for summaries**: "Summarize the key decisions from last week's product meeting"
* **Request comparisons**: "How does our current approach compare to what we did last quarter?"

### Managing Results

* **Use filters** to narrow down results when you get too many
* **Check source citations** to verify information
* **Save important searches** for future reference
* **Share insights** with your team using the collaboration features

## Troubleshooting

### Common Issues

**Not finding expected results?**

* Check if the source app is properly connected
* Try different search terms or phrases
* Use filters to narrow down the scope
* Ensure you have access to the content in the source app

**Slow search performance?**

* Large datasets may take time to index
* Try more specific search terms
* Check your internet connection
* Contact support if issues persist

**Missing recent content?**

* Some integrations may have a slight delay in syncing
* Check the "last synced" timestamp in your integrations
* Try searching with a broader time range
